Madiba swims False Bay

A few months ago, the Ocearch project came to Cape Town, placing acoustic tags on sharks and releasing them in and around False Bay. Sizes ranged up to 5 meters and satellites now track their movements and migration patterns. A massive debate erupted around the chumming method of attracting sharks to the boat for tagging. Dave Lilienfeld was fatally bitten during this time.
The permit was withdrawn for a while, allowing for investigations into any link. They determined the incident couldn't be connected and the permit was re issued, with the proviso that no chumming can occur within 2km of shore. Shark spotters are now watching from the rocks at Koeel Bay. Daves dad said that it was a tragic, freak accident and urged us back into the water, as he would have told Dave to not be afraid of anything. Whatever side of the debate you stand, these are the movements of the sharks they tagged. Apparently, Stanford University students have now developed a Foursquare app. alerting followers when a shark has 'checked in' to your area.
