Marrakech Express

A lifetime ago, we said cheers to our traveling surfing buddies in Portugal, as they left for the surf of Morocco - our SA passports wouldn't allow us across the border. Its burned me forever that we still had to complete the trip. Finally its going to happen. Planning is the fun part, and the more I read up about the place, the more stuff I found out. This pic of Talitha Getty on a rooftop in Marrakech has become an icon of hippy chic, with oil heir John Paul jr looking on - emotionally destroyed later after she died of an overdose at 30 - the same year as Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. Keith Richards got away from it all, driving his Bentley south. Hendrix named Anchor Point, a great right surf break, when he went down there - listen to Castles made of Sand. Tangier has depths that even Burroughs couldn't fathom in Naked Lunch...this is going to be one hell of a trip.
Booked for March!
