Sharks

Weird-I had the most incredible surf after meeting some locals on the Southern tip of Africa, and catching a lucky East swell with no wind - during a drought period when nobody had caught any waves for a month. The only concern was that it was pretty sharky, and they regularly catch all species off the wall. After managing to pull myself free from their fishing lines and racing nervously across the boat channel, we had a great session with friends, without incident, although the threat of the 'evil lurkey' was always back of mind. Then they caught one - and I felt incredible sadness for this defeated creature, who'd left us alone to enjoy our surf.
